How to install NetMirror on Firestick
Sideload the NetMirror TV APK on any Amazon Firestick — 4K Max, 4K, Lite or Cube — in about five minutes. Uses the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, no ADB or PC required. Alexa voice search works after install.
Overview
Installing NetMirror on an Amazon Firestick is a four-step process that takes about five minutes end-to-end. You\'ll flip one developer toggle, install the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, point Downloader at the NetMirror TV APK URL, and tap Install. After that, NetMirror sits in your Apps & Channels row like any other Firestick app.
The reason we use Downloader instead of pure ADB sideloading: typing URLs with the Firestick remote D-pad is slow and error-prone. Downloader has a clean URL keypad, remembers your recent downloads, and handles the "tap to install" hand-off automatically. It\'s the standard tool for every Firestick-related guide for a reason.
Which Firesticks work?
The NetMirror TV APK works on every Firestick released since 2018 (Fire OS 6+). 4K Max and Cube give the smoothest experience with full 4K HDR support. HD-only models (Firestick Lite, 3rd-gen HD) work fine but cap at 1080p.
Firestick 4K Max (2nd Gen)
Best for 4K HDR + Dolby Vision · Wi-Fi 6E · recommended
Firestick 4K Max (1st Gen)
Excellent 4K HDR · Wi-Fi 6 · runs everything smoothly
Firestick 4K (3rd Gen, 2023)
4K HDR · slightly slower than Max but still great
Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)
Most powerful · hands-free Alexa · ethernet port included
Fire TV Cube (2nd Gen)
4K HDR + Alexa · ethernet via USB adapter
Firestick (3rd Gen, HD)
HD only · 1080p playback works, no 4K
Firestick Lite
HD only · no volume buttons on remote · most affordable
Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen)
Older model · still supported but Android 7 required minimum

Step-by-step install
4 steps · ~5 minFour steps in order. Illustrated Firestick UI mockups show what each screen looks like — the actual on-screen text may vary slightly by Fire OS version, but the flow is identical.
Allow apps from unknown sources
On older Fire OS versions you'll see "Apps from Unknown Sources" as a single toggle. On Fire OS 7+ (newer Firesticks), it lives under "Install Unknown Apps" and you enable it per-app — toggle it ON for Downloader specifically. Same end result either way.
Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore
Press the microphone button on your remote and say "Downloader". Alexa finds the app instantly. Click Get / Download → wait 10 seconds → Open.
Open Downloader and enter the NetMirror APK URL
Type the URL using the on-screen keyboard (D-pad to navigate, Select to type each character). Click Go. The {APP.size} APK downloads in 10-20 seconds on most Wi-Fi connections.
Install the APK and launch NetMirror
Select Install (right arrow → OK). System installer runs for ~20 seconds. Once done, you'll see "App installed" with two buttons — Done and Open. Tap Open to launch {SITE.name} immediately.
On next launches, find {SITE.name} in Apps & Channels on your home screen (long-press the home button → Apps). Move it to the front row of Apps for one-click access.
NetMirror is live on your Firestick.
Browse the home feed with your remote, hit OK to play, ask Alexa to skip or pause. The Firestick 4K Max + Cube models give the smoothest 4K HDR playback. After install, you can also delete the Downloader APK file (it\'s no longer needed).
First-run setup
On first launch, NetMirror walks you through a short onboarding (~20 seconds):
- 1
Language picker — default audio + subtitle languages. Use the D-pad to move, OK to select.
- 2
Storage permission prompt — accept this so the local watchlist and Continue Watching row persist.
- 3
10-second remote-control tour — how to skip 10s, switch audio language, toggle subtitles, exit to home.
- 4
Home feed loads — featured banner, OTT platform tabs, Continue Watching and Trending rows.
Alexa voice tips
VoiceThe biggest Firestick win over plain Android TV is Alexa integration. Once NetMirror is installed, these four voice tricks save real time.
Skip the typing
"Alexa, open Downloader" or "Alexa, open NetMirror" — instantly launches the app from any screen, no D-pad navigation.
Search inside the app
Open NetMirror, then press the mic button and say a movie name. The app picks it up as a search query and jumps you to results.
Volume + playback
"Alexa, pause" / "Alexa, fast-forward 30 seconds" / "Alexa, volume 5" — all work inside the player on Firestick 4K Max + Cube.
Resume Continue Watching
"Alexa, resume the last show on NetMirror" — picks up where you left off, faster than clicking through the app UI.
Troubleshooting
6 common issues · verified fixesThe six most common Firestick install / playback issues, each with the actual root cause and the verified fix.
"App from this developer is not allowed on this device"
Amazon's "Collect App Usage Data" is set to ON, which sometimes blocks sideloaded apps on newer Fire OS builds.
Go to Settings → Preferences → Privacy Settings → toggle OFF "Collect App Usage Data" and "Interest-based Ads". Reboot the Firestick (unplug for 10 sec, plug back). Retry the install — works on first try after the reboot.
Downloader says "Unable to download" or "URL not found"
The NetMirror URL has rotated to a new domain — your Firestick is still looking at the old one.
Visit our homepage on your phone or PC to get the current working URL. Type the new URL into Downloader. The native Android/TV/Firestick app versions usually pick up the rotation automatically on launch — only first-time installs need the manual URL.
Install button is greyed out even after enabling Unknown Sources
Either the APK didn't download fully (low memory) or "Install Unknown Apps" needs to be re-toggled specifically for Downloader.
Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps → confirm Downloader is set to ON. If still greyed out, free up storage: Settings → My Fire TV → About → Storage → check free space. Need at least 200 MB free.
Video player shows a black screen on 4K HDR titles
Firestick HDMI handshake or HDR pass-through issue — common on Sony TVs with auto-HDR settings.
Settings → Display → Video Resolution → set to 1080p 60Hz temporarily, watch the title, then switch back to Auto. Alternatively: unplug Firestick + TV for 30 seconds, plug back in (HDMI handshake reset). Long-term fix: update Firestick firmware (Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for Updates).
Remote can't scroll inside the NetMirror player
Some Firestick remote firmware versions intercept D-pad events that the player needs.
Use the Fire TV mobile app on your phone as a remote (free from Play Store/App Store) — it has a virtual D-pad and trackpad that pass events correctly. Also useful as a typing keyboard for future URL changes.
Audio is out of sync with video
Bluetooth audio (soundbar or headphones) introduces ~50-200ms latency that Firestick doesn't always auto-compensate for.
In NetMirror player: gear icon → Audio → A/V Sync Offset → adjust in 50ms increments until audio lines up. Or, in Firestick settings: Display & Sounds → Audio → A/V Sync Tuning. For wired HDMI audio, this issue shouldn't occur.
